1. Greenville City Council moves forward with teen curfew (reflector.com) — Greenville's City Council has advanced a downtown teen curfew that would apply Thursday through Saturday nights, aiming to curb late-night disturbances after large youth gatherings this summer. Members also heard concerns about a police sergeant's conduct, delayed a decision on expanding Sawyer's Fun Park on Corey Road, and highlighted new youth programs at South Greenville Recreation Center, including the ongoing Wave 365 activities.
   

2. ECU launches new student well-being program (wnct.com) — East Carolina University in Greenville has launched Pirates Perch, a new student well-being program that connects students with trained volunteer listeners, many of them local retirees and alumni. Meeting on campus and at Cypress Glen Retirement Community, the initiative aims to ease loneliness and provide a friendly, non-clinical ear for students throughout the semester.
   

3. First responders climb Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium to remember lives lost on 9/11 (wcti12.com) — First responders in Greenville gathered at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium for a 9/11 memorial stair climb, timing the start to the moment the first plane hit the World Trade Center. Greenville's fire and police chiefs joined participants, some in full gear, to honor fallen responders and reinforce unity and remembrance for future generations in Pitt County.
   

4. Bystander 'pinned' by car; Woman arrested in Greenville parking lot spat (reflector.com) — A man uninvolved in an argument was seriously hurt after being pinned between two vehicles during a parking lot dispute near ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. Police say 18-year-old Sharon Lenise Strong was arrested and faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon related to her car. She is currently being held at the Pitt County Detention Center.
   

5. PCC Notes: Building construction instructor earns NCHBA's top award (reflector.com) — Pitt Community College is spotlighting instructor Glenn Morrison, honored statewide for his work that includes partnering with the City of Greenville to turn student-built houses into affordable homes for local families. The college also secured renewed federal TRIO funding to help adult learners and is inviting local private and homeschool families to a Sept. 21 session on earning college credits while in high school.
