Air Quality Alert In Huntersville: When Will Heatwave End?
There's no way to sugar coat it, it's going to be a scorcher this week. Here's when the heat wave is expected to break.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — It’s going to be a scorcher this week throughout the Lake Norman region, and the ongoing heatwave means Huntersville will see several days where temperatures near 100 degrees. Along with the heat, forecasters have issued an air quality alert Monday, as heat index values are expected to rise to 100 to 105 degrees, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service issued an air quality alert for the piedmont of North Carolina June 18 until 8 p.m., saying, “An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.”
We won’t likely see a chance of rain until later in the week. Thunderstorms become a possibility Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday, and again Friday, when there’s a 40 percent chance of rain.

There’s one more reason to look forward to the weekend — temperatures are expected to cool down a bit on Friday going into the weekend. After a week of temperatures nearing 100 degrees, the highs will be around 91 degrees Friday and Saturday.
