Coronavirus: New Cases In Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville
The number of COVID-19 cases has increased in Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville. Here's an update, according to DHHS data.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Novel coronavirus has claimed the lives of at least 63 people in Mecklenburg County — 11 more than reported a week ago — as health officials now say the county has 2,134 confirmed cases.
The number of confirmed positive cases of the new coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, continues to increase in the state. As of Monday morning, 15,045 cases were confirmed, an increase of 3,197 new cases reported since Monday, May 4.
Here's a breakout of how many of the 2,134 COVID-19 cases in Mecklenburg are present in the Lake Norman region as of May 11, according to NC DHHS:

- Davidson (zip code 28036): 16 cases, 1 death (up from 11 cases reported May 4)
- Cornelius (zip code 28031): 75 cases, 14 deaths (up from 68 cases and 11 deaths reported May 4)
- Huntersville (zip code 28078): 58 cases, 2 deaths (up from 53 cases and 1 death reported May 4)
The death toll for the state increased by three new deaths since Sunday, increasing the statewide total to 550, according to North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services data released Monday morning. Since May 4, at least 120 people have died in North Carolina from coronavirus-related illness.
The number of people hospitalized with the coronavirus, however, dipped over the weekend to 464. That number represents 34 fewer hospitalizations than reported May 4.

Mecklenburg County continues to be the hardest hit in North Carolina, followed by Wake County, which has 1,048 confirmed cases and 23 deaths, and Durham County, which has 873 cases and 32 deaths.
