COVID-19 In Lake Norman: Where Deaths, Cases Have Been Confirmed
Here's how many COVID-19 cases have been reported in Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson, according to state public health officials.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Coronavirus has claimed the lives of at least 73 people in Mecklenburg County, which confirmed 3,403 cases, health officials said Tuesday. Nearly a quarter of the county's deaths have occurred in the Lake Norman towns of Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson, according to data.
The news comes as the state saw an increase of 2,522 new COVID-19 cases and 38 deaths recorded around the state since May 22 — the start of the Memorial Day holiday weekend and the day the state began to officially ease restrictions meant to slow the spread of the virus.
As of Tuesday, North Carolina health officials reported 24,140 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, an increase of 176 cases since Monday.

The death toll for the state increased by 12 new deaths since Monday morning, putting the statewide total at 766, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
Mecklenburg County continues to be the hardest hit county in North Carolina, followed by Wake County, which has 1,478 confirmed cases and 34 deaths.

Here's a breakout of how many of the 3,403 COVID-19 cases in Mecklenburg are present in the Lake Norman region as of May 26, according to NC DHHS:
- Davidson (zip code 28036): 23 cases, 1 death
- Cornelius (zip code 28031): 83 cases, 14 deaths
- Huntersville (zip code 28078): 70 cases, 3 deaths
