Huntersville Target Reopens, Donates To Local Charities

A fire broke out in Huntersville's Target in late May, closing the store for repair. It reopened Sunday.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- Less than a month after a fire broke out inside Huntersville’s Target, the store has reopened and is commemorating local support with donations to area charities.

The May 22 fire inside the Target on Sam Furr Road took fire fighters from two stations about an hour to put out. Smoke from the fire prompted nearby businesses to evacuate and led paramedics to treat some customers in the parking lot from smoke inhalation. The store suffered heavy smoke damage and was closed for weeks until it reopened Sunday, June 11.

“Thanks to the department's quick work, the fire was under control in less than an hour,” a Target statement said. “Nonetheless, the store had to temporarily close to undergo repairs.”
