Only one will get it (charlotteobserver.com) — Huntersville residents could soon see improved access to advanced PET/CT scans as Novant seeks a permanent scanner for Huntersville Medical Center and Huntersville-based Southern Oncology Specialists proposes a unit serving nearby Denver. State regulators will choose only one of four competing Lake Norman-area projects, with public hearings and written comments helping decide where this costly but crucial cancer and heart-disease imaging ends up.
   

• High school football: Alford throws 4 TD passes in North road win (salisburypost.com) — Huntersville football fans saw Lake Norman Charter fall 46-27 at home after a tight first half, as visiting North's Mike Alford tossed four touchdown passes and Dyaon Norman-Jackson scored three times. Despite strong efforts from Knights quarterback Dylan Wignot and running back Chase Gentile, North's defense clamped down after halftime to hand Lake Norman Charter a tough non-conference loss.
   

• As 11 new charter schools seek approval, how has school choice affected NC students? (heraldsun.com) — Families in Huntersville, including those at Lake Norman Charter, are part of a statewide shift where about a quarter of North Carolina students now choose charters, private schools, or homeschooling. A state review board is weighing 11 new charter applications while examining how this competition is reshaping district enrollment, school closures, and the future mix of education options in counties like Mecklenburg.
