• Pilot Mountain Investigation Leads To Indictment Of Former Town Manager (jocoreport.com) — State auditors say a former Pilot Mountain town manager charged over $2,100 in food purchases to a town credit card in his hometown of King, along with many other personal expenses. The investigation led to a felony indictment and recommendations to tighten financial controls. King residents may see this case spur closer scrutiny of how nearby towns safeguard taxpayer money. 
• Exploring new Foothills Snorkel Trail locations (thestokesnews.com) — A King resident, Peggy Messier, is helping scout new sites for the Foothills Snorkel Trail just up the road in Stokes County, including areas near Hanging Rock. Volunteers are rating creek spots for safety, scenery, and educational value while also cleaning up trash. Organizers hope to expand the trail to rivers and creeks that many King families already visit.
