Lenoir Community College opens aviation training center (businessnc.com) — Kinston residents now have a major new pathway into aviation and advanced manufacturing careers with Lenoir Community College’s Sen. Jim Perry Aviation Center for Excellence at the Global TransPark. The 57,000-square-foot facility offers college and high school programs, plus partnerships with Elizabeth City State and ECU so students can complete four-year aviation-related degrees without leaving the region. Fawn found under Toyota Tacoma at Kinston dealership near Highway 70 (wcti12.com) — A baby deer briefly disrupted the morning at Massey Toyota in Kinston after staff spotted it sheltering under a new Tacoma near busy Highway 70. Deputies and animal control safely guided the fawn back to nearby woods and later saw adult deer nearby. Officials are reminding residents to leave fawns alone unless they’re clearly in immediate danger, such as near traffic.

Hickory Grove Church (14) — Neuse News (neusenews.com) — A local history column traces how Hickory Grove Church in nearby Bucklesberry was once a firmly Baptist congregation, documented in 1880s reports from the Kinston Journal and other regional papers.
