PSRC announces weekly Summer Meal Pick-Up Program set for July (robesonian.com) — Families in and around Lumberton can sign up now for the Public Schools of Robeson County’s free weekly Summer Meal Pick-Up Program, which begins July 1. Eligible children ages 1-18 receive boxes with breakfasts and lunches at one chosen school site each Thursday in July, but each child must be registered separately online in advance. 
2. Alum Sheridan to lead Lumberton football (robesonian.com) — Lumberton High School has promoted alum and longtime assistant Josh Sheridan to head football coach, aiming to bring stability after years of frequent turnover. Sheridan, a 2015 graduate and former UNC Pembroke player, plans to build on last season’s 4-6 campaign by leaning on returning seniors, continuity on staff, and his deep roots in the Lumberton community.
3. NCDOT strengthens roads and bridges resiliency to prepare for future storms (wwaytv3.com) — Crews are raising the I-95 bridge over the Lumber River in Lumberton by 12 feet and widening that stretch to eight lanes, aiming to prevent closures like those after Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. The long-term resiliency project, part of NCDOT’s statewide storm-hardening push, is expected to finish in 2029 and will protect a key evacuation and travel route through Lumberton.
4. Jeff Register, 60 (portcitydaily.com) — Lumberton natives may remember Jeff Register, who was born there in 1965 and later became a beloved carpentry teacher and golf coach in Southport. He recently passed away at 60, remembered as a man of faith who cherished family, friends, and sharing his time with others.
