📰 News we're reading
• New roots after Helene: volunteers plant native trees to restore island in Marshall (wlos.com) — Volunteers and local groups are replanting native trees on Blannahassett Island in downtown Marshall to restore a beloved gathering spot badly damaged by Helene. Eighteen large trees were added along the French Broad River to stabilize banks, reduce erosion, and bring back shade and wildlife habitat. Organizers say more revegetation events are planned, inviting residents to stay involved in the island’s recovery.
