Hard Rock Bristol revenue stays steady from July to August (wjhl.com) — Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol’s August revenue held essentially steady at about $22.9 million, generating over $1.37 million for the Regional Improvement Commission that includes Bristol and 12 Southwest Virginia localities. Most income again came from slot machines, with table games providing the rest, helping fund transportation, education, and safety projects across the region.

New Roanoke College scholarship targets Southwest Virginia students (cardinalnews.org) — Bristol students planning to attend Roanoke College as full-time freshmen starting in 2027 will automatically qualify for a new Southwest Virginia Scholars Award worth $5,000 a year for four years. FBI investigating Bristol-area bookkeeper after theft of $200K, 474 personal Amazon orders (wjhl.com) — A former bookkeeper for an unnamed Bristol business has pleaded guilty to federal wire and mail fraud charges after allegedly diverting more than $200,000 for personal expenses, including hundreds of Amazon purchases and bill payments. Investigators say the scheme ran from 2020 to 2025, and the FBI and Washington County Sheriff’s Office continue probing details while the business’s identity remains undisclosed.
   

4. Upshur County grand jury indicts 26 (theintermountain.com) — A Bristol man is among 26 people indicted this week by an Upshur County, West Virginia grand jury, facing 11 counts of incest. The broader indictment list details a range of felony and misdemeanor charges against defendants from several communities, with all individuals presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
