New Coronavirus Cases Reported In Iredell County: Here's Where

New COVID-19 cases were confirmed throughout Iredell County Tuesday. Here's the latest update from the county health department.

MOORESVILLE, NC — The number of confirmed novel coronavirus in Iredell County increased by 13 since Friday, to 157 cases, according county public health officials. No new deaths were reported.

Out of North Carolina's 100 counties, 31 have a higher number of confirmed cases than Iredell County, according to North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services data.

At least six people in Iredell County have died as a result of novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, and five people remain hospitalized, according to ICHD data released Tuesday afternoon.

The tally is cumulative and includes at least 93 cases that are assumed recovered, according to county health data.

As of Tuesday morning, at least 15,346 people in North Carolina had tested positive for COVID-19, and 577 had died from coronavirus-related illness, NC DHHS said.

Iredell County health officials are grouping cases into three regions of the county: North, Central and South. Here's a breakdown of where cases have been confirmed as of 4 p.m. May 12, according to the Iredell County Department of Health:

North Region (zip codes 27020, 27028, 27055, 28625, 28634, 28636, 28660, 28689 and 28678)

  • 27 cases (up three cases since May 8)

Central Region (zip codes 27013, 28166, 28677)

  • 53 cases (up three cases since May 8)

South Region (zip codes 28036, 28115, 28117, 28125)

  • 77 cases (up seven cases since May 8)

According to county health data, those in the age group of 25 to 49 years of age represent 34 percent of all Iredell County cases, followed by those 50 to 64 years of age with 34 percent of cases, and those and 18 to 24 years of age with 12 percent of cases. Those 65 and older make up 19 percent of COVID-19 cases in Iredell County.
