Academy Sports Now Open In Mooresville: Grand Opening Details

MOORESVILLE, NC — Academy Sports + Outdoors is now open in Mooresville. The newly built 63,000-square-foot sports and outdoor store carries apparel, footwear, hunting, fishing and camping equipment, as well as patio sets, barbeque grills and other recreation products.

The new store is the seventh Charlotte metro location for the national chain, and is located at 426 Talbert Road in Mooresville. According to the company, it will also add 60 new jobs to the community.

The company is marking the occasion Wednesday by giving 18 first responders and their children a donation shopping spree of $150 and $100 each, respectively, as well as making a $2,000 donation to the Mooresville Police Athletic League, it said.

“Each child and their father or guardian will shop for anything they want including all-new footwear, apparel, sports equipment, bikes, fishing and camping gear, and more,” the company said in a statement.

Also planned this week is a two-day grand opening event with demonstrations and giveaways, says Academy:

Saturday, June 22, 2019 (8 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

• When the store opens at 8:00 a.m., the first 150 customers in line will receive a mystery gift card valued between $20 and $500
• The first 250 customers present at the store opening will receive a free exclusive Academy t-shirt
• Appearance by the Carolina Panthers TopCats cheerleaders 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
• Appearance by the Panthers mascot Sir Purr 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
• Appearance by the Panthers PurrCussion Drumline 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
• Customers can meet pro angler Darren Gallaher and Strike King angler David Fritts starting at 10 a.m.
• Kids can fish for free in the Kids Fish Tank
• Giveaways, games, and product demonstrations throughout the day with a chance to win prizes from Maui Jim, adidas, Brooks Running, Under Armour, Costa Del Mar, Intex, Strike King, Skechers, and Academy’s private-label brands like Magellan Outdoors.
