Burglary Suspect Nabbed In Act: Iredell Sheriff's Office

Justin Alexander Hosey, 27, was arrested and charged for a string of Iredell County break-ins, the sheriff's office said.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A King’s Mountain man was arrested and charged in Statesville Sunday after an Iredell County sheriff’s deputy caught him inside a business he had broken into to rob, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect was also driving a car reported stolen in Florida, and wanted on outstanding arrest warrants in Cleveland and Burke counties.

Deputies were alerted to a burglary at the County Line Grocery, located at 119 Campground Road in Statesville on Jan. 27 when an alarm was triggered around 4:45 a.m. Deputies immediately saw the business had been broken into and began checking the surrounding area.

A deputy checking Fast Phil’s Gas Station, located at 309 Mocksville Highway in Statesville, saw that the gas station had also been broken into and that the suspect was still inside the business, ICSO said in a statement.

The deputy was able to apprehend the suspect, who was identified as Justin Alexander Hosey, 27.

After reviewing security camera footage, detectives connected Hosey to the earlier breaking and entering at the County Line Grocery.

Afterwards, more charges came, ICSO said.

“While processing both crime scenes for evidence, detectives received information from the Davie County Sheriff’s Office and Mocksville Police Department. They were investigating similar breaking and enterings within their jurisdictions,” ICSO said. “Detectives interviewed Justin Hosey, and were able to connect Hosey to the Davie County and Mocksville crime scenes.”

Hosey was charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony possession of stolen property and felony possession of burglary tools.

He was also served with the outstanding warrants from Cleveland County, Burke County, as well as warrants from the Mocksville Police Department for felony obtaining property by false pretense, two counts of felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony possession of stolen property, and misdemeanor injury to personal property.
