Carson Kvapil to pilot JR Motorsports' No. 8 entry for 2027 O'Reilly season (speedwaymedia.com) — A Mooresville native is moving up the NASCAR ladder as Carson Kvapil has been tapped to drive JR Motorsports' No. 8 Chevrolet in the 2027 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. The 23-year-old, who first raced the No. 8 in JRM's development program, replaces Sammy Smith after back-to-back strong seasons and recent wins at Indianapolis and Iowa.

Big & Rich Take on Artificial Intelligence on Ominous New Song 'Hello AI': 'This AI Thing Is Outta Control' (Video Premiere) (kjwl.com) — Mooresville gets a shoutout as Big & Rich plan a Sept. 19 show in town while debuting their new anti-AI song "Hello AI." The country duo argue that artificial intelligence threatens human songwriters and emphasize creating music the old-fashioned way, with pencil, paper, and live performance.
