Cancer, Coal Ash Meeting Postponed Due To Coronavirus Concerns

The March 19 meeting was cancelled following state level directives to limit large gatherings amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A much-anticipated community discussion on thyroid cancer and coal ash facilities won’t happen as previously scheduled, according to Iredell County health officials. The announcement comes after Gov. Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency for the state amid the unfolding outbreak of the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

The meeting was originally planned for Thursday, March 19 at South Iredell High School in Statesville.

The meeting will be rescheduled when possible, organizers said.
