Coronavirus: Mooresville Businesses Step Up With Raises, Deals

Here's a round up of some recently announced deals and business updates impacting the Mooresville community.

MOORESVILLE, NC — As more and more government offices and local businesses temporarily close their doors in a bid to help stop the spread of novel coronavirus, some Mooresville area businesses are stepping up, with improved pay for workers or deals on food.

There are now at least eight cases of the novel coronavirus in Iredell County, county health officials announced Monday afternoon. The increase comes as the outbreak of the new coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, continues to surge across the state and around the nation.

As of Tuesday morning, there have been 398 positive coronavirus cases and no deaths in North Carolina. The number of confirmed and presumed positive cases of COVID-19 in the state rose from 297 positive cases reported Monday morning.

In Mooresville, businesses are reacting to the rapidly evolving situation, with at least one company raising wages for its employees. A local restaurant is also offering a deal for medical workers.

BJ’s Wholesale Club

Monday, BJ’s Wholesale Club announced it is increasing wages and bonuses for frontline team members working in the stores, distribution centers and home office during the COVID-19 outbreak in North Carolina, as well as its other U.S. stores. Workers will receive an extra $2 an hour from March 23 through at least April 12.

At the end of March, managers and key personnel in the clubs and distribution centers will receive a one-time bonus, ranging from $500 to $1,000. An employee relief fund has also been made available for employees facing financial hardship because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Aliño Pizzeria
On Thursday, March 26, Aliño Pizzeria is celebrating Healthcare Workers Appreciation Day by giving any healthcare worker a free whole Margherita or Sorrento pizza. All you have to do to receive a pizza is show your healthcare facility ID badge for takeout.

Aliño Pizzeria is located at Merino Mill, 500 S. Main Street in Mooresville. This offer is available for takeout only.

Firehouse Subs
Through the end of April, Firehouse Subs is giving away a free kids' combo with purchase of a medium or large sub by showing this coupon at the register or mentioning it on the phone*. Guests can also download this printable activity sheet for their kids.

The offer is valid through April 30 and for carryout orders only. Print offer or show on smartphone to redeem. Cannot be combined with other discounts or coupons.

Five Guys Mooresville
Five Guys Mooresville is currently waiving delivery fees for orders placed on their website or through the Five Guys App. There is a minimum $15 ordered required for the deal, and while fountain drinks are not available for delivery, bottles drinks are.
