Couple Charged With Heroin Trafficking In Statesville: Sheriff
Deputies initiated a traffic stop of the suspects' vehicle after receiving a tip that the pair was in possession of drugs.
STATESVILLE, NC — A couple nabbed by Iredell County sheriff’s deputies this week were arrested and now face numerous drug charges including heroin trafficking after authorities received a tip that led to a traffic stop of the suspects’ vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
According to a report by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began “actively searching” for Pedro Luis Luis Gonzalez, 36, and Misty Marie Ross, 35, after receiving information that the pair was in Iredell County and in possession of narcotics.
On Oct. 26, Gonzales and Ross were spotted in Statesville, and deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 1500 block of East Broad Street.

During the stop, the couple’s vehicle was searched, and more than 28 grams of what authorities say was suspected bagged heroin was found. The drugs had an estimated street value of nearly $3,000, ICSO said.
Gonzales and Ross were arrested on the scene and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where they were both charged with felony trafficking heroin by transport and felony conspiracy to sell heroin. Gonzales was also charged with felony trafficking heroin by possession.

Their secured bond was set at $1 million each, ICSO said.
