Crash Claims Life Of Iredell Mother Driving Daughter To School
The accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. near North Iredell Middle School in Olin, according to reports.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — An Iredell mother is dead and and her daughter is in critical condition following a head-on crash near North Iredell Middle School Thursday morning. According to reports, the two-vehicle accident on Jennings Road occurred as the mother was on her way to the school with her daughter.
Jennings Road was closed to traffic in both directions following the crash, the Statesville Record & Landmark reported.
North Iredell Middle School is located at 2467 Jennings Road in Olin.

North Carolina Highway Patrol told WSOC that they are investigating whether heavy rain was a contributing factor in the crash as the victim’s car swerved when it entered the intersection of Jennings Road and Olin Road, hitting the other vehicle head-on. Two people had to be cut out of vehicles, and the daughter was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, the station said.
A person from the second vehicle reportedly suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a hospital in Statesville, WSOC said.
