Electrical Fire In Attic Damages Pine Street Home In Mooresville

Firefighters say electrical wiring was behind a Pine Street fire Monday afternoon just before 2:30 p.m.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Mooresville firefighters are crediting the quick thinking of an occupant of a Pine Street home who called 911 to report an attic fire Monday afternoon, and say the call helped limit damage.

“When firefighters arrived, there was no fire or smoke evident; however, upon entry into the home, crews discovered a small working fire in the attic,” Mooresville Fire-Rescue said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in less than 20 minutes, MFR said.

The incident, however, underscores the need for working smoke alarms, according to fire officials, who said there were none in the home.

“Had this fire continued into the night or occurred when the residents were asleep, we likely would be talking about a very different outcome,” Fire Marshal Geoff Woolard said in a statement.

MFR recommends that homes have at least one working smoke alarm on each level and that they are tested monthly.
