Holiday Travel: Violations NC Troopers Are Looking For This Year
As millions of drivers hit the nation's highways for the holidays, here's a list of violations state troopers are focused on this year.
NORTH CAROLINA — Christmas Day is right around the corner and chances are that means you’ll be on the road, like millions of others in the U.S., to see family and friends to celebrate. That also means North Carolina’s State Highway Patrol officers will be on the road, searching for driving violations.
“The Christmas season is a time to be shared with family and friends,” said Colonel Glenn McNeill Jr., commander of the State Highway Patrol, in a statement. “Our priority is to reduce needless collisions before they occur in hopes of reporting zero lives lost throughout this holiday season.”
During the 2018 holiday season, North Carolina troopers responded to 3,102 crashes between Christmas Eve and Jan. 2, 2019. Those accidents were responsible for 19 deaths and 716 injuries, SHP said.
