Iredell County Rape Self-Defense Course To Be Held This Weekend
The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is holding a rape self-defense course this weekend. Here's how to register.
IREDELL COUNTY — The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is holding Rape Aggression Defense training, known as R.A.D., Sept. 7 and Sept. 8.
The defensive skills taught in the R.A.D. courses are designed for average people with no background in physical training. According to the program, at least 900,000 women have taken the course.
According to ICSO, the class will run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday. Lunch will be provided to participants on Saturday.

Here’s what the sheriff’s office says about the course:
“R.A.D. was designed to teach realistic and employable tactics to women for continued personal growth. The course accommodates women who are age thirteen and older and each participant controls their level of participation. If any participants are under the age of eighteen, a parent or guardian will have to sign a parental consent form prior to their participation.”
