Iredell County Traffic Stop Leads To $186K Meth Trafficking Bust

Iredell deputies pulled the Nissan over along I-40 for a traffic violation and ended up finding nearly $200,000 worth of methamphetamines.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A traffic violation along an Iredell County interstate this week led deputies to a stash of methamphetamine with a street value of nearly $200,000 and landed two North Carolina men in handcuffs, charged with its trafficking.

The Feb. 20 incident occurred early in the morning along Interstate 40, near mile marker 146, according to an account by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies in ICSO’s Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) team stopped a 2016 Nissan Altima for traffic violations, but during the stop deputies became suspicious of criminal activity. A drug dog was brought to the vehicle for an open-air sniff and made a positive alert for narcotics, ICSO said.

They were both charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine by possession and felony trafficking methamphetamine by transport.

Williams was also charged with giving false information to an officer, which is a misdemeanor, and driving while license revoked.
