IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A burglary suspect accused of being caught in the act while stealing jewelry out of a bedroom of a Statesville home was held at gunpoint until authorities arrived, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.

“It is lucky for this suspect, this investigation did not end in a drastically different way,” Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a statement.

Brandon Taylor Knight, 26, was arrested and has been charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering and two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, ICSO said.

Knight was in possession of stolen jewelry and other items, and has also been accused of a second break-in at a nearby home. A third break-in was also reported in the area Monday evening, and additional charges are expected to be forthcoming, the sheriff’s office said.

Knight, who is currently on supervised probation for a previous breaking and entering conviction in New Hanover County, was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. His secured bond was set at $30,000.
