Iredell Shooting Suspect On The Run Nabbed In Virginia
Joshua Dalton is accused of shooting a man in a driveway and fleeing the scene. He was arrested in Floyd County, Virginia.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A suspect wanted on assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill charges following a shooting of a man in a driveway over the weekend has been arrested in Floyd County, Virginia, according to Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a report by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, the shooting victim suffered non life-threatening wounds after he was shot in the driveway of a home located in the 100 block of Damascus Church Road in Statesville around 8 p.m. March 10. Deputies interviewed a witness to the shooting, as well as the victim, and were told that the gunman was Joshua David Dalton, 19, of Statesville.
Iredell authorities issued a felony arrest warrant for Dalton and have relayed information about the incident to surrounding counties in an attempt to locate him.

ICSO said Wednesday that Dalton was arrested on the outstanding Iredell County warrant in Floyd County, Virginia, which is about two hours north of Statesville.
"During the investigation, Iredell County detectives gathered information about Dalton having family members in Floyd County Virginia," Sheriff Darren Campbell said Wednesday in a statement. "Authorities in Virginia went to a residence, which Iredell County detectives had identified as a possible location for the suspect. Dalton was located and taken into custody."

"The suspect was known to the victim and witness," ICSO said in a statement following the shooting. "The victim said Joshua was not welcome there, and he confronted him in the driveway and told him he had to leave. Dalton then pulled out a gun from inside his vehicle, and shot the victim once before fleeing the scene."
Dalton was driving a black Jeep Cherokee when he left the scene. The vehicle was found abandoned around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning, ICSO said.
