Mooresville Apartment Fire Causes $35,000 Damage, Displaces 1
A sprinkler system would have limited damage in a predawn fire at a Mooresville apartment complex, a fire official said.
MOORESVILLE, NC — An early morning apartment fire that left one person displaced and caused an estimated $35,000 in damage is now under investigation, according to Mooresville Fire-Rescue. No one was injured in the blaze, fire officials said.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at the Brentwood Apartment Complex, located in the 100 block of Great Lakes Road in Mooresville, shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.
“Upon their arrival, firefighters found a working fire in a first-floor apartment,” MFR said in a statement. “Moving quickly, the fire department had the fire under control 30 minutes after their arrival.”

Units from Lake Norman, Shepherds Fire-Rescue, and Iredell County Emergency Medical Service also responded to the scene to assist, MFR said.
The resident in the first-floor apartment was able to “self-evacuate,” however firefighters were needed to assist the evacuation of two residents of a second-floor apartment.

“One occupant remains displaced as a result of the fire,” MFR said.
According to fire officials, the apartment complex, which was built in 1995, did not have a sprinkler system because it was not required at the time of construction.
“A fire sprinkler system would certainly have limited the damage this morning,” Assistant Fire Marshal Jason Workman said. “Other than removing some water, there would have been minor fire damage to the unit and the occupant would mostly likely have been able to re-occupy the apartment quickly.”
