Mooresville Officer Honored For Using CPR To Save Woman’s Life
In December, Officer Stacey Hughes performed CPR on an unresponsive woman at a Mooresville gas station, saving her life.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Two months ago, a quick thinking Mooresville police officer using her training saved a woman’s life at a Mooresville’s gas station. Monday, she was commended for her actions during a Mooresville Town Board meeting, receiving the Mooresville Police Department’s Life Saver Award.
According to the Mooresville Police Department, Officer Stacey Hughes’ heroic act took place Dec. 9, when the officer arrived at the QuickTrip gas station on West Plaza Drive and found a woman struggling to breathe.
“Hughes immediately called for medical assistance, and shortly after doing so, the woman became unresponsive,” MPD said in a statement. “Utilizing her training, Officer Hughes immediately did several sternum rubs, in an attempt to keep the woman conscious. When that didn’t work, she began to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and continued doing so until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene.”
