NASCAR Tech Gear-Up Girl Networking Event Set For Sept. 12

MOORESVILLE, NC — Students and professionals interested in a career in motorsports will have an opportunity to network with women in the business at a Gear-Up Girl networking event at NASCAR Technical Institute Thursday.

The Mooresville-based school is seeing an increase in female students as the industry continues to see an acceleration in demand for automotive and diesel trained technicians, said Jennifer Bergeron, campus president of NASCAR Technical Institute. “There are quality, good-paying jobs with potential for career growth just waiting for our graduates, and we're excited to be able to showcase those opportunities."

Jennifer LaFever, director of quality for Roush Yates Engines, will moderate the Sept. 12 program.

"I've always been excited to share my story and to encourage people to follow their passions," said LaFever, who is also a graduate of the NASCAR Tech program. "I was very fortunate that my father always told me I could do anything I wanted to do, but not everyone has that kind of support. I want to be there to connect other women in the industry and help them find mentors."

The SEMA Businesswoman’s Network Gear-Up Girl Networking Event will be held Sept. 12 from 6 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. at the NASCAR Tech campus, located at 220 Byers Creek Road in Mooresville.
