Coronavirus Caper: Stolen Semi Full Of Toilet Paper Found In NC

A stolen tractor-trailer hauling nine tons of the most in-demand and hoarded product in the U.S. right now was found in North Carolina.

NORTH CAROLINA — Local law enforcement in Guilford County stopped a tractor-trailer this week for a traffic violation along Interstate 40, and discovered that not only was it stolen, but was full of one of the most in-demand items wanted in just about every state in the nation right now.

The heisted big truck was full of toilet paper.

Nine tons of it.

Toilet paper, and the lack of it on store shelves, has become the national barometer of concern amid the ongoing outbreak of the new coronavirus in the U.S., selling out in stores across the United States.

“Deputies followed the vehicle to a warehouse/dock facility a short distance off of the interstate and encountered the driver,” the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said in a March 18 statement. “After further investigation, it was determined the 53-foot Hyundai dry-van trailer was reported stolen locally and was being utilized to transport nearly 18,000 pounds of commercial, bathroom paper products.”

According to the sheriff’s office, an investigation is ongoing and no one has been arrested at this time.
