Summer Camp Registration Coming Up, Playgrounds Remain Closed

Here's a list of Mooresville area parks and facilities now open during Phase 2, according to Mooresville Parks & Recreation.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Mooresville's Farmer's Market will soon open and summer camp registration is set to begin June 8, according to Mooresville Parks & Recreation.

North Carolina began Phase 2 of easing coronavirus restrictions Friday at 5 p.m., which gave the green light for day camps to open this summer with special guidance, as well as community pools with limited capacity.

The Town of Mooresville's Farmers' Market, which is held at Liberty Park located at 225 E. Iredell Avenue, is set to resume June 6 with the implementation of social distancing measures, MPH said.

The Town of Mooresville's Parks & Recreation will also begin accepting applications for summer camps June 8. Camps are tentatively planned to begin July 6, parks officials said.

Mooresville Skate Park, located at 748 W. Iredell Avenue, reopened May 23. Mooresville parks and bathroom facilities are open to the public, however, play grounds and indoor recreational facilities remain closed.

Here's a list of what's open and closed for Mooresville parks and facilities:

  • Mooresville Skate Park — Open
  • Splash Pad at Hope Park — Closed
  • Pool — Closed, though possible early July opening
  • Field reservations — cancelled
  • Picnic shelters — may be reserved with a signed agreement to abide by social distancing guidelines
  • Indoor recreational facilities — Closed
  • Programming and reservations — Cancelled
  • Summer Camps — Could possibly be offered beginning the week of July 6, pending staffing and planning for compliance with executive order guidelines. Registration will begin June 8.

As of Monday, May 25, there were 230 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Iredell County, up from 213 reported Friday, according to data released from North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
