Two Suspects Nabbed After Mooresville Vehicle Break-In

Two Iredell County men face vehicle break-in charges after they were stopped by officers in Mooresville.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Two Iredell County men face vehicle break-in charges after an early morning traffic stop in Mooresville Monday.

According to the Mooresville Police Department, officers responded to an emergency call reporting a vehicle breaking and entering in progress shortly after 2 a.m. July 15 in the Talbert Woods Apartments on Litewood Lane, off West Plaza Drive.

MPD officers spotted a vehicle leaving the complex and inside it was a person matching the suspect description given by the witness, MPD said.

Officers stopped the vehicle for a traffic stop, and located stolen property linked to recent vehicle break-ins in the area. They also discovered property related to recent White Oaks Road area vehicle break-ins, MPD said.

MPD has charged Aaron Byrd, 23, of Statesville, with two counts of breaking/entering of motor vehicle; larceny; carrying a concealed weapon; and possession of a stolen firearm.

Dre’Quan Stephens, 23, of Mooresville, was charged with two counts of breaking/entering of motor vehicle; carrying a concealed weapon; and possession of a stolen firearm.

Byrd and Stephens were transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and received a $10,000 secured bond.

“Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues,” MPD said.
