Veterans Day 2017: Events in Mooresville, Lake Norman
Mooresville, as well as other communities in the Lake Norman region, are hosting Veterans Day events this week. Here's a list.

MOORESVILLE, NC -- Veterans Day is a time for Americans to thank and honor those who have served honorably in the military in wartime and peacetime. Veterans Day is Nov. 11, but many cities and towns, such as Mooresville, are honoring their local servicemen and women with celebrations, parades, banquets, and more beginning this week.
Here is the schedule of Veterans Day events in Mooresville through the weekend:
Thursday, Nov. 9
- Veterans Community Action Center -- Charles Mack Citizen Center, 215 North Main Street, Mooresville. 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- StoryTellersX “Got Your 6” -- Charles Mack Citizen Center, 215 North Main Street, Mooresville. 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday Nov. 11

- Glenwood Park Memorial Ceremony -- 273 Glenwood Drive, Moooresville. 11 a.m.
- Veterans Parade -- Downtown Mooresville, Noon
- Lunch, Ceremony & Concert -- following the parade, events will take place at Town Hall Green in Downtown Mooresville.

Several other communities in the Lake Norman region will be showing their gratitude to veterans with events over the weekend, as well:
- The town of Davidson will hold its Veterans Day event Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. on the steps of town hall.
- Cornelius’ Arts Center invites the community to start off Veterans Day by making a thank you card, patriotic art and cookie decorating. The Veterans Day Open House will take place at the Arts Center, located at 19725 Oak Street, Cornelius. Saturday, Nov. 11 at 9 a.m.
- Cornelius’ Veterans Day Celebration will honor military veterans and current servicemembers in a program at the Veterans Monument at Rotary Plaza. Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.
- Huntersville has a day of activities planned to commemorate Veterans Day on Saturday, Nov. 11, beginning with a free breakfast for veterans at the Huntersville Presbyterian Church from 7 a.m. - 8 a.m. The Huntersville Veterans Day Parade will begin around 9:45 a.m. in downtown, with a ceremony to follow at 11 a.m. More information about Huntersville Veterans Day events may be found here.
- Charlotte’s Salute to Veterans Parade will feature local middle and high school bands, as well as Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), active military units and veterans organizations. The parade begins at 11 a.m. on North Tryon Street and will end at 600 S. Tryon Street.
