First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:

  1. According to an article in Kankakee Daily Journal, Mooresville's Nick Hoffman took a victory in the UMP modifieds at the DIRTcar Summer Nationals 2022 season-opening in Kankakee. The article states, "despite starting the 25-lap UMP modifieds race in third-place behind Jamie Lomax and Trevor Neville, Nick Hoffman of Mooresville, N.C., wound up taking the trip to victory lane by making moves within the first couple of laps. Hoffman wound up overtaking Lomax through the opening lap to help himself cut his gap to Neville by 0.422 seconds. Not even a full two laps later Hoffman then managed to slip past Neville to overtake first-place before going on to cruise for the final 22 laps of the race despite having multiple caution flags arose between laps 9 and 14."(Kankakee Daily Journal)
  2. Megan Bornkamp, who is originally from Mooresville, will be playing as a defender for the U.S. Under-23 Women's Youth National Soccer Team in its first international matches since the fall of 2019. According to a U.S. Soccer article, "a 21-player squad will be traveling to Sweden during the upcoming international break for friendlies against India and the hosts in the Women's U-23 Three-Nations Tournament. The USA will face India on June 25 in Helsingborg the first-ever match between a U.S. Women's National Team and the country that will host the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in October.
