• Oak Island swimming advisory in effect as town pumps standing floodwater into surf (wect.com) — If you’re heading to the beach in Oak Island, avoid the ocean near Crowell Street, where the town is actively pumping contaminated floodwater into the surf. State officials say the discharge may carry sewage, fuel, and other pollutants, and they’ll remove warning signs and update the public 24 hours after pumping stops and conditions are considered safe again.
