⢠In Ocean Isle Beach, advocates hope āTurtle Lights' will save tiny lives (whqr.org) ā Ocean Isle Beach volunteers are replacing oceanfront streetlights with amber āturtle lightsā and covering the higher power bills themselves to protect hatchlings this season. The Sea Turtle Protection Organization hopes future state legislation will mandate wildlife-safe lighting and urges residents, rental owners, and visitors to cut white lights, close blinds, and email elected officials to support stronger protections.

⢠āReal-life superhero': Fireman saves baby as North Carolina coastal wildfire battle continues (myfox8.com) ā A large Brunswick County wildfire burning between Shallotte and Ocean Isle Beach remained only 50% contained Sunday after threatening 30 homes and damaging utilities, though no houses were ultimately lost. Crews from every county fire department and neighboring counties are still working the 300-acre Quarry Road Fire as winds and smoldering debris keep smoke and flare-up risks alive.

⢠George Thomas Madison, 60 (portcitydaily.com) ā Ocean Isle Beach is mourning longtime resident George Thomas Madison, a devoted father, grandfather, and real estate appraiser who passed away June 29 at age 60. Remembered for his faith, generosity, and love of Carolina basketball, he leaves behind close family in Ocean Isle Beach, Shallotte, and beyond, with a memorial fund established at Shallotte United Bank to support his daughterās college education.
