Here are the top stories today in Raleigh:
- A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Raleigh on Saturday night. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. This is the second death caused by train in the area this year. (AP News)
- On Saturday, Raleigh hosted it's first ever intertribal powwow. This powwow is significant to North Carolina because the Raleigh land it was held on land was originally inhabited by Native Americans. (WRAL)
- A fire around a chimney in Wake County spread through the home on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred just outside of Raleigh on Leesville Road, and will likely leave the homeowner displaced. It is unclear how the fire started as the individual was not using the fireplace at the time of the incident. (CBS17)
- Wake County Public School System is warning parents that bus service for today is uncertain. Families should plan for that possibility after only 400 of the 600 buses operated by the school system were running on Friday. (FOX8)
- A controversial medical freedom summit took place in Raleigh on Saturday, and now a local health expert is pushing back against the unverified claims made at the event. One of the drugs that the panel touted has been warned against by the CDC due to "an increase in reports of severe illness reported after use."
