Here are the top four stories today in Raleigh:
- A Raleigh home was significantly damaged in a Saturday afternoon fire. The incident occurred around 5:15 pm at a two story home on Brownairs Lane in southeast Raleigh. One woman was home when the fire began and was able to escape with no injuries. A dog in the home was unresponsive when rescued, but is recovering after receiving oxygen. (CBS17)
- Hundreds gathered to show support for Ukrainians impacted by the Russian invasion on Saturday afternoon. The gathering included Ukrainian people, policymakers, historians, and more. (CBS17, WRAL) Many NC residents have also been using Airbnb to provide financial aid to Ukrainian residents, by making reservations, simply to provide income to hosts. (WRAL)
- Raleigh police are investigating a domestic dispute that led to one injured with stab wounds on Sunday morning. Police are still working to identify the weapon, but confirmed that a man was suffering from injury, the extent of which is unknown. (CBS17)
- The North Carolina Supreme Court has agreed to accelerate appeals in the photo voter identification lawsuit. The judtices granted the request on Wednesday, and they will begin hearing the case without waiting for the Court of Appeals to deliberate first. Oral arguments are not scheduled but they will likely take place this summer. (Rockingham Now)
