The Cardinal at North Hills Announces Opening of Healthcare Services Building
The Cardinal at North Hills is pleased to announce the opening of its Healthcare Services Building.

The Cardinal at North Hills, Raleigh’s premier urban continuing care retirement community, is pleased to announce the opening of its Healthcare Services Building which will cater to residents in need of assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. Both memory care and skilled nursing are set up in a household setting which promotes independence and dignity by providing shared common spaces both indoors and outside, just like you find in any home. By reaching this milestone, The Cardinal is now a true continuing care retirement community which can meet the changing health care needs of residents. Independent living residents in the senior living community can have peace of mind knowing that they or their spouses can access higher levels of care if the need arises. Tom Ford, executive director of The Cardinal at North Hills, made the announcement.
“We have several residents living in our Healthcare Services Building. We are delighted to provide the best lifestyle and the highest quality of care,” said Ford. “It is extremely convenient for couples because one person may be able to live independently while the other may have different needs. By offering a full continuum of care, we can accommodate every resident’s needs as they change over time. For example, a couple might start out living together in independent living, and at some point one of them may start showing signs of dementia. In this case, one spouse could stay in independent living while the other moves into an apartment home in the Healthcare Services Building where they are cared for by a specialized memory care team in a safe and secure neighborhood.”
Oftentimes, the independent living portion of a continuing care retirement community is vastly different from the health care services side. When families or loved ones transition from one neighborhood to the next, there is an apparent transformation in interior design, amenities and feel of the space. However, at The Cardinal at North Hills, all residents experience the same sophisticated design with a seamless transition between levels of care. Residents continue to enjoy inspiring artwork, cozy community areas, chef-prepared meals and serene courtyards.

“The Cardinal at North Hills believes strongly that just because a senior needs some assistance or is living with a memory impairment does not mean that he or she is any less deserving of a quality residence,” said Ford. “We pride ourselves in providing an exceptional residential living experience regardless of a resident’s health care needs. The Cardinal is a community in which seniors celebrate life, age gracefully and flourish. We are excited to open the doors of our Healthcare Services Building to show Raleigh seniors and their families what they deserve and then deliver on that.”
