Here are the top 4 stories today in Raleigh:
- Hundreds of volunteers spent their Christmas Eve handing out meals at Raleigh Rescue Mission. Raleigh Rescue Mission and Southeast Raleigh Table volunteers were able to distribute 1,200 meals that consisted of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, cranberry sauce, and pie. (CBS17)
- Retailers were thrilled with pre-holiday shopping that brought foot traffic and sales at or near pre-pandemic levels. Local brands are especially grateful for many peoples' efforts to shop local. (WRAL)
- Last minute shopping led to a Christmas Eve crash in Cary as one SUV ended up on top of another in a Publix parking lot. Around 1:15 pm on Friday, one driver was attempting to repark when it rode up the front of a parked SUV. The incident did not appear to involve any significant injuries and it's unclear if anyone was cited in the incident. (CBS17)
- The YMCA of the Triangle is expanding its approach to reach more young men of color. A national grant is providing more resources to help provide young men a place to feel at home. The national grant is helping create the new Boys and Young Men of Color initiative. (WRAL)

- Christmas tree collection begins today through January 26. (WRAL)
- Churches in the area are still seeing low attendance even with holiday services. (abc11)
