Here are the top stories in Raleigh today:
- Tupper Memorial Missionary Baptist Church and the Raleigh Police Department joined together for a community day of unity on Sunday. Chief Estella Patterson has been vocal about her goals of more community partnership and spoke to those in attendance about her four community policing measures. (abc11)
- Broughton High School was on a brief lockdown after a student reportedly brought a firearm on campus. The student left school before law enforcement officers located them, but an investigation by RPD, Wake County security staff, and school administration did confirm the presence of a weapon on school grounds. (WRAL)
- The City of Raleigh had to close multiple blocks of N. West Street due to an emergency water main break repair. The road remained closed for most of the day between Peace and Dortch Street, and traffic was forced to take a variety of detours. (CBS17)
- This year's Oakwood24 took place over the weekend and raised $125,000 to support Healing Transitions. The event was 24 hours of running at Oakwood Cemetery, with the events originator, Jon Frey, running for all of those 24 hours. (abc11)
- Governor Roy Cooper has been formally chosen to lead the Democratic Governors Association next year after serving as vice-chair and chair-elect in 2021. (WAVY) The New York Times has also reported that donors are pushing Governor Cooper to run for president if President Joe Biden does not seek a second term. (WSOC-TV)
