Downtown Rally + Vaccine Incentives + New Scam Circulating

It may be back to work for all you 9-5's, but that also means that Raleigh is going to pick up the slack with other things for you to do. Below I outline a rally planned downtown, a little reflection from Memorial day, and some things to do tonight if you want to clock out and go back into fun mode.

- A rally is set to be held in downtown Raleigh tonight as a response to the killing of Andrew Brown Jr. on April 21. Organizers are demanding transparency and accountability of the Pasquotank County sheriff's deputies. (WAVY)
- North Carolina is looking into potentially offering a lottery drawing to incentivize vaccinations. Many states have begun a similar system including Ohio who gave away its first $1 million prize this week. Following the announcement the state's vaccination rate went up 33%. (Fox8)
- A new scam is circulating in the Triangle. If you receive a letter from a Canadian insurance firm, you should be cautious. Make sure you warn loved ones who might be susceptible to this kind of fraud. (CBS17)
- While many Americans honored fallen loved ones this Memorial Day, many families are still searching for answers and closure on the fate of their loved ones. While as many as 58,000 Americans died in the Vietnam War, there are 38 North Carolina service members who are unaccounted for. (abc11)
- A new Veterans Memorial site was unveiled in the Triangle. The site in Chapel Hill is not quite completed however it was opened for visitors, and wreaths were laid at the six monuments honoring those who died in conflicts around the world. (WRAL)

- Back in April, Gov. Roy Cooper announced his goal was to lift COVID-19 Restrictions by June 1. With the mask mandate lifted, today may bring some more news regarding restrictions.
