- North Carolina has had to throw away more than 392,000 coronavirus vaccine doses in the last nine months. Millions of deses have been thrown out over the last 6 months by Walgreens, CVS, and Walmart alone. Julie Swann, a professor of industrial and systems engineering at NCSU stated that "If you track supply and demand, you could project that we will start seeing wastage really kick up around now." The doses can be trashed for a variety of reasons including expiration, packaging issues, damage in transit, a broken vial, or a vial opened to give vaccines without using all doses. (WRAL)
- The North Carolina General Assembly is already two months behind on finalizing its two-year budget. The House and Senate both have competing spending plans, and they must come to a compromise that will also take into account Governor Roy Cooper's agenda. - One Raleigh small-business is issuing a warning after being owed $45,000 for a HVAC project. Adrian Stephenson of AnyDay Heating & Cooling was hired to replace 12 HVAC units in a Raleigh mansion. After the homeowner signed the proposal, he delayed payment on the deposit, but ensured he was able to pay the $50,000 deposit when capital came in. He told the team to go ahead and start. The team installed 4 of the 12 units and after four months and a string of excuses, Stephenson put his foot down.
