Here are the top five stories today in Raleigh:
- On Saturday afternoon, the Chavis Community Center was filled with children and families attending the Community Resource Fair. Men from the Omega Psi Phi provided colorful backpacks full of school supplies for kids and parents who attended. The fraternity organized fundraisers that helped cover the costs of the free backpacks and school supplies, and families were grateful to receive them. There were also opportunities for those in attendance to chat with groups that offered mentorships and job opportunities. (abc11)
- Cellphone videos have been released that show the aftermath of the shooting at Club Dreams in Raleigh. The shooting injured 6 teenagers after a fight broke out around 11 p.m. The suspect still remains on the run, and the 6 victims are recovering. (WRAL, WSOC-TV)
- On Sunday morning, just after 7 p.m., Raleigh police were called to a hit-and-run scene by the Four Points by Sheraton Raleigh North Hotel. Police say that the driver fled the scene but was later caught and arrested. The injured pedestrian died as a result of the crash. Police have not released the identity of the man arrested at this time. (CBS17)
- The Wake County District Attorney's office has continued to pursue a criminal investigation into North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein in spite of recommendations that the case be closed. The case is unprecedented and involves a 2020 campaign ad. The N.C. State Board of Elections determined the ad was not a "clear violation" of the law, but the Wake DA's office, led by Lorrin Freeman pursued an indictment against the sitting attorney general. A federal judge blocked Freeman from bringing charges last month, but a judge lifted the order, making it possible for Freeman to continue pursuing the charges. (AP News, WBTV)
