The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Raleigh.

Happy World Meteorological Day Raleigh!
Before I get started, I wanted to address a mistake in the title on the issue that went out on the 13th of this month. The article featured stated that Cary Town Center was undergoing demolition, but the title misrepresented the news and said "Triangle Town Center." The Triangle Town Center mall is alive and well, and encourages any and all visits.
First, today's weather:
A drenching thunderstorm. High: 71 Low: 65.

Here are the top five stories today in Raleigh:
- Wake County has secured $1.5 million to build a new emergency operation center and DNA lab that will help meet the growing needs of the community. The DNA lab will give Wake County the ability to process evidence for police and prosecutors without sending it to the state lab. Construction on the project has already begun, and Wake County Commissioner Matt Calabria hopes the funding will allow the county to cut down on the backlog of test kits and better equip law enforcement to do their job. (WRAL)
- Wake County EMS workers are set to become the highest paid in the state. Pay raises are slated to come as soon as April. The EMS director for Wake County. Chris Colangelo sent a message to staff stating that they want to be a more attractive employer and the raises will apply to more than 80% of EMS workers. (WRAL)
- Rep. Deborah Ross has worked to secure $2 million in federal funds from President Joe Biden's new funding package for a new housing project in Raleigh. The new community will be located on Michael J Smith Lane in what is now a wooded area between Sungate Boulevard and Sandburg Court. The CASA's King's Ridge will house more than 100 families in the area with an overall cost estimate of $20 million. (CBS17)
- For the third time in almost 30 years, the N.C. Supreme Court will take up the Leandro Case. The North Carolina Court of Appeals blocked the transfer of nearly $1.7 billion late last year, and now the court put out an order granting the request of plaintiffs and defendants to look at the case. The order specifies that the case should go back to Judge David Lee's courtroom to see if state budget passing impacts the initial decision Lee made forcing the state to dedicate the funds to education. (INDY Week)
- The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments on Monday regarding North Carolina's voter ID law. The focus of Monday's hearing was whether Republicans should be able to step into the case and defend the law. According to the Supreme Court's website the case is focusing on three major issues regarding the rights surrounding the case, as opposed to the constitutionality of the law itself. (WNCT9)
