Here are the top stories today in Raleigh:
- With many individuals still struggling to pay rent, legislators are looking to expand the HOPE program to benefit landlords. Senator Chuck Edwards argued on Tuesday that landlords should be able to apply on their tenants' behalf. Laura Hogshead, chief operating officer of the North Carolina Office of Recovery and Resilience told senators that it would not be feasible despite her agreement that the change would be good. Republican state senators have indicated that they intend to push forward in spite of oppositions. (WRAL)
- A grassroots organization, 1 of Us has donated over $120,000 to the Duke Women's Cancer Care Center in Raleigh over the last two years. The money will be used to provide transportation and financial assistance during treatment for patients in need. Dana Moore, a cancer survivor, says that many women skip or don't pursue treatment due to child care, work, and other factors. The organization hopes that 1 of US can help pay forward the support Moore received while she received treatment in 2015. (abc11)
- North Carolina Republican legislative leaders have replaced state attorneys with a private lawyer to defend them in challenging felony voting rights. The judicial panel will be issuing an official order soon that will allow anyone convicted of a felony to register to vote after completing their prison sentence. Republican House Speaker Tim Moore and Senate Leader Phil Berger, defendants in the case, intend to appeal the order. (US News)
- A Wake County toddler was taken from his family to be placed in foster care, where he died just over three months later. Christina Clancy, the toddler's mother, blames the system for her son's death especially after a judge had ruled for the boy to be returned to her custody. Brayden Allen, or "Bubba" was removed from her custody due to a reported burn mark that the family says he got after bumping into something on a table. The foster father is being investigated as the incident is being treated as a homicide due to the severity of the boys injuries. (WRAL)
- A 15-year-old led Wake Forest police on a chase Monday afternoon that ended in a crash in Raleigh. The teen stole the car in Wake Forest and eluded police for a short period of time, but was arrested after crashing the vehicle on McGuire Drive. Witnesses reported another person running from the scene of the crash and police are investigating the possibility of more people involved. Information identifying the suspect was not released due to age. (CBS17)

Alright friends, that's everything for today. It's the middle of the week and a great time to declutter, take stock, and upcycle. A routine for more than just a secondhand wardrobe. Hopefully you can take stock and have a great week moving forward.
