Here are the top stories in Raleigh today:
- The man who was charged with hitting and killing a Knightdale police officer back in October is now in jail. Dedric Romero Privette was transferred from WakeMed and is being held on a $2 million bond. (WRAL)
- Wake County Board of Commissioners has approved an extra $15 million in federal pandemic relief aid for House Wake, to extend the program into 2022. House Wake has already helped about 2,600 families and individuals with overdue rent and utility bills as well as legal and relocation assistance. (WRAL)
- The Raleigh City Council has approved a rezoning plan that will build an apartment complex next to Horseshoe Farm and may have a negative environmental impact. The Horseshoe Farm Nature Preserve is right off Neuse River and wildlife biologist John Connors believes that the city is not doing enough to preserve the park. (Spectrum News 1)
- A Raleigh jeweler is being featured at New York's Museum of Arts and Design this weekend. Tata Locklear makes one-of-a-kind pieces out of recycled skateboard decks. Many of her collections are released to support different causes, and the Food is Love collection dropping on December 18 will benefit the North Carolina Food Bank. (Spectrum News 1)
- Inflation has surged to a 40 year high at almost 7%, and with Christmas right around the corner, some Raleigh residents are opting out of Christmas celebrations like years past. Supply chain issues have sent prices up and as employers raise wages to meet demand we are entering into a "Wage Price Spiral." (abc11)
