Today there is so much information for you to glean. I've rounded up a few bits of information for parents of school aged kids, two follow up arrests to the shooting of the paramedic on Juneteenth, and updates to the COVID-19 incentive program. Check out all that, some fun celebrations, and more news and events down below.

Here are the top stories today in Raleigh:
- Police have arrested two more men in connection to the shooting on June 19 that wounded a paramedic. Tallis Devon Leak and Lawrence Edward Keyshawn Frost have been charged with multiple charges including assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill and going armed to the terror of people. The two most recent arrests bring the total number of arrests to six. The paramedic who was injured said that there were 20 to 30 shots fired as they tried to get their injured patient to the ambulance. (WRAL)
- North Carolina schools are looking forward to the new year, and questions of COVID-19 precautions have been on every parent's mind. On Thursday, state officials announced a partnership that will expand virus testing in schools statewide. Schools will be able to decide how they want the testing program to be performed allowing flexibility for the individual schools. - The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has updated its website to let people know that they are running out of $100 Summer Cash Cards. They expect to have more cards available next week. If you are looking to cash in on your first dose, make sure you check the website to see which providers have the cards available. (WNCT9)
- $40 million of federal COVID-19 stimulus funds will now be able to be used to support wellness programming and mental health training for North Carolina educators and staff who work directly with students. The money was first approved for school districts to use in September, but didn't include additional training for employees. The board also approved spending $450,000 towards COVID-19 learning recovery efforts to maintain Leandro compliance across schools. (WRAL)
- The Triangle NC Cares Award for August is recognizing Note in the Pocket, an organization to clothe children "with dignity and love." Since 2013 it has helped 31,818 individuals. Now through September, its Back to School Campaign hopes to help 1,000 students, and donations of up to $25,000 will be matched. The award is sponsored by Ricci Law Firm. (abc11)

Today, I hope you get the opportunity to honor and remember those who received the high honor of Purple Heart. For me, that means honoring my grandfather and his service.
