  1. More details emerge in the death of James Lucy Taylor. The police have taken the two males reported at the scene into custody. One male, 19, has been arrested and the other, 16, is in custody on a juvenile petition. Details regarding cause of death are being withheld in order to not jeopardize the investigation.   2. The Republican led plan to offer $1,500 bonus return to work incentives has hit a road block as the state discovers that federal law does not allow for unemployment benefits to be converted in this way. Republican Ted Budd has proposed a bill to seek approval from the U.S. Department of Labor to use the funds from the American Rescue Plan in this way. (WRAL, WAVY)
  3. Duke Energy customers are about to see a rise in their energy bills. The average residential customer can expect to see a 5.3% increase in their monthly bills. The rate increase will go towards helping Duke Energy clean up coal ash at its plants. (abc11)
  4. A staffing shortage among Durham 911 dispatchers is causing concerns among first responders. Currently Raleigh is handling about 9% of Durham's incoming emergency calls. The system is causing frustrations for Raleigh dispatchers as well as citizens needing emergency services. (EMS1)
  5. If you have still yet to get your Covid-19 vaccine, you could get a free meal out of it. A team of nurses and trained doctors will be at Empire Eats from noon-5:00pm through Friday. Registration is not required in advance. (CBS17)
