  4. The North Carolina Department of Revenue announced that money from student loan forgiveness will be considered taxable income in North Carolina. According to officials, the money will be exempt from federal income taxes due to the student loan forgiveness exemption in Internal Revenue Code (IRC) 108(f)(5). The funds will still be subject to state income taxes because the North Carolina General Assembly never adopted Section 108(f)(5) of the IRC. (FOX Carolina)
  5. Earlier this week, North Carolina U.S. Senator Thom Tillis, and U.S. Representative Tedd Budd sent a letter asking the Department of Homeland Security to look into the immigration status of the brothers charged with killing Wake County Deputy Ned Byrd.
