Here are the top five stories in Raleigh today:

  1. The North Carolina GOP headquarters on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh was vandalized over the weekend. The vandal wrote "If abortion isn't safe neither r you" along with hearts and the anarchy symbol. Jeff Moore, the communications director for the North Carolina Republican Party said that they were not surprised, but disheartened by the graffiti. They also received many voicemails over the weekend with similar threats following the SCOTUS Dobbs v. Jackson decision. (CBS17) Following the decision, several North Carolina abortion care providers are expanding their hours and hiring more staff in anticipation of patients from other states. (WRAL)
  2. Monday afternoon heavy rainfall led to flooding near Crabtree Valley Mall. The rainfall began just before 4 p.m. and cars slowed along I-440 as they encountered the standing water. In October of last year, NCDOT officials spoke about fixing the issues near exit 7 at Glenwood Avenue, but it is unclear when they will make the necessary improvements. They did say that the stretch that floods will be repaved this year. (CBS17)
  3. Two Raleigh women were attending a conference in San Diego, California when they were injured from stray bullets. Toni Yrlas and Lane Sheer were leaving an event when two groups of people were arguing on the street. One woman was hit in the torso and the other in the hand. Both women will need support for surgeries, transport, rehabilitation and other expenses. A GoFundMe set up by a coworker has already raised more than $100,000, including a $10,000 donation from the company's president. (abc11, WRAL)
  4. As fuel prices have been staying in the $4.50-plus range, Sheetz announced that effective immediately, it'll be dropping fuel prices. It will lower the price to $3.99 a gallon for unleaded 88, and $3.49 a gallon for E-85 at participating locations. The limited time offer will last through the July 4th holiday travel season. Several Raleigh locations are participating in the promotion, but you should call your location ahead of time to be sure. (abc11, WRAL)
  5. On Tuesday morning, a Raleigh driver was involved in a wrong-way crash on I-540. North Carolina Highway Patrol reported a driver traveling the wrong direction on the I-540 east exit ramp when another driver was exiting and the two collided. The wrong way driver and one passenger were taken to the hospital for injuries, while a backseat passenger was killed in the collision. The crash is still under investigation, but alcohol is believed to be a factor. (CBS17)
